Spunky Monkey Bars

Now the monkeys from A Barrel of Monkeys have somewhere to hang out :)

I got this brilliant idea from Teacher Tom’s blog post: Memories of Play. It’s a structure made of PVC. It’s REALLY cheap and easy to put together! This is about 50ft of PVC piping with about 40 various fittings (cross, elbow, and T connectors).
I just showed Teacher Tom’s monkey bars to hubby and told him to make it big enough for The Chief to play inside of it because it’ll also be used as a fort and other activities. It was also important that it be expandable, as well as, easy to break down and put away.
Simple imaginative play!
These are 3 containers of the Barrel of Monkeys game in blue, red, and green. Sometimes he plays quietly by himself. Other times we have monkey hanging races and competitions to see who can hang the most from one monkey. We also play sorting games (all blue on this bar, all green on that bar, etc) and sequencing (red-blue-green, red-blue-green, etc).
