Toothpicks & Styrofoam

You can never have too many fine-motor skill projects in your back pocket! I sooo wanted to do the styrofoam head activity I saw Teacher Tom’s preschoolers made for their play. But before I combed the web in search for a supply of styrofoam heads, I had to be sure The Chief was even going to be interested.

He was excited to try something new.
He then got serious about it, analyzing each one before deciding where to put it. When I tried to join in (‘cuz I wanna play too!), he got mad and took out the ones I poked. Jeeeez, share much???

Later, Daddy tried to show him how to build a 2-story structure. But Chief wasn’t interested in that. Daddy then drew some shapes on a small piece and told him to try to stay on the line. He enjoyed doing that.

Easy enough.
He learned it wasn’t so easy to do 4 all at once.
He sat there for awhile in deep concentration until he couldn’t find anymore spots to poke without getting poked in the arms. And because he wouldn’t let Mommy play, I made him clean up the dropped toothpicks all by himself :)
Yeah, he’ll certainly enjoy doing the styrofoam head. I found some for cheap on eBay and Amazon. But I’ll wait a week or so to see if any pop up on Freecycle.
